CJ Group

CJ Group, formally CJ Corporation, is a South Korean holding company conglomerate headquartered in Seoul, founded on August 1, 1953 by Lee Byung chul and named for CheilJedang, meaning first sugar manufacture, the industry in which it began. It operates across four main sectors, Food and Food Service, Bio, Logistics and Retail, and Entertainment and Media, with subsidiaries including CJ CheilJedang, CJ Logistics, Olive Young, CJ ENM and CJ CGV. The group was originally Samsung's first manufacturing business before gaining independent management in 1993, and is chaired by Lee Jay hyun, a grandson of Samsung founder Lee Byung chul.
