Carling Black Label is a lager brand distributed by Carling Brewing Company, containing between four point seven and five point five percent alcohol by volume, and now owned by Molson Coors Brewing Company. The brand originated in Canada and took its current name in 1927 when company president J. Innes Carling rebranded the earlier Black and White Lager as Black Label, and ownership later passed through E. P. Taylor's Canadian Breweries Limited in 1930 and Heileman Brewing Company in 1979 before reaching Molson Coors. It became one of the first beers brewed on a mass international scale and grew especially popular across Commonwealth countries including the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, becoming Britain's best selling beer brand in 1971 and remaining the country's leading draught beer from 1985 to 2024. The brand is no longer widely sold in the United States, though it remains available in a few markets such as Detroit.
