Cardinal is a Swiss beer brand and former brewery founded in 1788 by François Piller in Fribourg. Feldschlösschen bought the original brewery in 1991 and closed it in 2011, shifting production to Rheinfelden, and the brand, led by its flagship Cardinal Blonde pale lager, is today brewed under the ownership of the Carlsberg Group, which had acquired Feldschlösschen in 2000.
