Svalbard Bryggeri

Svalbard Bryggeri is a microbrewery in Longyearbyen on the island of Spitsbergen in Norway's Svalbard archipelago, owned by Robert Johansen. Founded in 2015 after Norway's parliament, the Storting, amended a law that had previously banned commercial alcohol production in Svalbard, it bills itself as the northernmost commercial brewery in the world at 78 degrees North, with equipment supplied and installed by Italian manufacturers. About 16 percent of its brewing water comes from melted ice from the roughly 2,000-year-old Bogerbreen glacier, and the brewery produces seven beers, Spitsbergen IPA, Pale Ale, Pilsner, Stout, Weissbier, Rav Lager, and Blonde, which it distributes across mainland Norway and increasingly exports abroad, while also offering beer tastings to visitors in Longyearbyen.
