Orion Breweries is the fifth-largest beer brewery in Japan, headquartered in Tomigusuku, Okinawa Prefecture. Founded in 1957 in Nago, Okinawa, and brewing beer since 1959, it commands roughly 1 percent of the Japanese beer market and 60 percent of the Okinawan beer market; in 2019 Nomura Holdings and the Carlyle Group acquired stakes in the company to support its expansion into the United States and other Asian markets.
