Janssen and Bechly Brewery

Janssen and Bechly Brewery was a beer brewery operated as a joint-stock company in Neubrandenburg, Germany, founded in 1911 by Friedrich Bechly and Hans Janssen on a site Bechly had purchased around 1900, with brewing beginning in 1912. East Germany nationalized the brewery in 1949 and renamed it VEB Brauerei Neubrandenburg, later selling beer under the Nordbrau brand; it produced pilsner, bockbier and malzbier. After German reunification the business was sold to private investor Peter Roth and closed in 1995, the Nordbrau brand was sold to the Lubzer brewery for 8 million marks in 1996, and the original brewery building was demolished in 2009 to make way for a shopping center.
