Braun (company)

Braun GmbH is a German consumer products company founded in 1921 by the mechanical engineer Max Braun, based in Kronberg im Taunus, Hesse. The firm built its reputation manufacturing electric shavers, personal care devices, radios, record players, movie cameras, slide projectors, clocks and small kitchen appliances, and its products became known for reliable, no-nonsense modernist design especially during the 1960s through the 1980s. Gillette acquired a majority stake in Braun in 1967, and Procter and Gamble became its ultimate parent when it acquired Gillette in 2005. Braun today remains active in shaving, grooming, beauty care and oral health products, while some of its former product lines such as kitchen appliances, clocks and health devices are now made under license by other manufacturers including De'Longhi and Kaz Incorporated.
