The Smisje Brewery is one of the smallest existing Belgian craft breweries, producing only about 200 hectoliters per year. It was begun in 1995 by former printer and homebrewer Johan Brandt, who originally named it De Regenboog after his earlier printing business. Brandt is also a beekeeper, which accounts for the prominent use of honey in some of the brewery's beers.
