Cargill

Cargill is an American multinational food and agricultural commodities corporation founded in 1865 by William Wallace Cargill in Conover, Iowa, and now headquartered in Minnetonka, Minnesota. It produces grain and other agricultural commodities, palm oil, livestock feed, and food ingredients such as starch and vegetable oils, and it runs a substantial financial services arm that manages commodity market risk. As of 2023 Cargill was the largest privately held company in the United States by revenue, reporting around one hundred fifty four billion dollars in revenue for 2025 with roughly one hundred fifty five thousand employees, and it remains controlled by the Cargill MacMillan family, which owns about eighty eight percent of the business. The company supplies close to twenty two percent of the domestic meat market in the United States and is the sole American producer of the Alberger process salt widely used in the fast food industry.
