Restaurant Brands International is a Canadian multinational fast food holding company formed on December 15, 2014 through a merger between Burger King and the Canadian coffee and doughnut chain Tim Hortons, structured as a corporate inversion that moved the combined company's headquarters to Toronto. Its brands, which also include Popeyes and Firehouse Subs, together operate roughly 30,000 restaurants worldwide, making it the fifth largest fast food operator globally after Subway, McDonald's, Starbucks and Yum! Brands. The investment firm 3G Capital holds a 32 percent stake, and the company trades on both the New York and Toronto stock exchanges under the ticker QSR.
