Chick-fil-A is a privately held American fast food chain specializing in chicken sandwiches, founded by S. Truett Cathy, who opened his first restaurant, the Dwarf Grill, in Hapeville, Georgia in 1946, before opening the first Chick-fil-A franchise in 1967. Headquartered in Atlanta, the chain operates more than 3,400 locations across most of the United States plus Canada, the United Kingdom and Singapore, and reported revenue of 21.6 billion dollars in 2023, giving it the highest average sales per restaurant of any major American fast food chain. Reflecting Cathy's religious convictions, Chick-fil-A restaurants remain closed on Sundays and on certain holidays.
