Hoshi Ryokan

Hoshi is a ryokan, a traditional Japanese inn, founded in the year 718 at the Awazu Onsen hot spring in what is now Komatsu, Ishikawa Prefecture. It was named for Taicho, founder of the Mount Haku religious tradition, and as of 2017 had been run by the Hoshi family for forty six consecutive generations, a record that makes it the worlds oldest continuously run family business. While Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan, founded in 705, holds the Guinness World Records title for oldest operating hotel, Hoshi remains the record holder for the longest unbroken family management of any business in the world.
