Adventure World (Japan)

Adventure World is an amusement park combined with a zoo and public aquarium in the town of Shirahama, Wakayama Prefecture, Japan. It opened on April 22, 1978 as Nanki Shirahama World Safari and is operated by Hours Co., Ltd., an affiliate of Marusue Co., Ltd. headquartered in Matsubara, Osaka Prefecture, under the stated motto of contact between humans, animals, and nature. The complex is known for its giant panda breeding programme and dolphin and sea lion shows, alongside animal-themed restaurants, cafes, and academic tours, and it belongs to the Japanese Association of Zoos and Aquariums. In January 2023, two of its lions died of COVID-19 after contact with an infected employee, and eight more lions were infected and recovered.
