JD Sports Fashion plc

JD Sports Fashion plc, trading as JD Sports, is a British multinational sports-fashion retail company based in Bury, Greater Manchester, England, with operations across Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific. It was founded in 1981 by John Wardle and David Makin, who traded from a single shop in Bury before building the chain that takes its initials from their first names; the Pentland Group holds a controlling 55 percent stake. JD Sports is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index.
