Spotlight Automotive is a joint venture of BMW and Great Wall Motor, formed in 2018 and established in November 2019 to develop and build battery electric vehicles in China, among them the Mini Cooper and the Mini Aceman. Its factory at Zhangjiagang in Jiangsu province was constructed between 2020 and 2022, and its first mass produced car, a Mini Cooper SE, rolled off the line on 14 October 2023. It also builds the Ora Lightning Cat, a Great Wall brand electric fastback.
