Walt Disney Animation Studios

Communication Services

Walt Disney Animation Studios, often shortened to Disney Animation, is the American studio that makes animated feature films and short films for The Walt Disney Company. It traces its start to 16 October 1923, when brothers Walt and Roy O. Disney founded it after the closure of Laugh-O-Gram Studio, and it is described as the longest-running animation studio in the world. The studio has been renamed several times, from Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio to Walt Disney Productions and later Walt Disney Feature Animation, and it took its present name in 2007. It is organized as a division of Walt Disney Studios and is based in Burbank, California. Its catalogue runs from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937 to recent films, and it is credited with developing many standard techniques of traditional animation, including storyboarding.
