Turk Telekom is Turkey's leading fixed-line, broadband and satellite communications operator, headquartered in Ankara, and traces its lineage to the state postal, telegraph and telephone administration that was reorganized as a joint-stock company in 1995 and privatized through staged share sales completed by 2005. The company operates Turkey's dominant fixed-line and DSL/fibre broadband network and also controls a mobile arm, formerly branded Avea and later unified as Turk Telekom Mobile, giving the group a presence across fixed, mobile, internet and TV services. Turk Telekom's ownership has included a consortium of Turkish and Gulf investors alongside a continuing Turkish state golden-share-style influence over the historically state-run network.
