Telenor ASA is a Norwegian telecommunications company headquartered at Fornebu near Oslo, descended from the state-run Norwegian Telegraph Administration established in 1855, converted into the limited company Telenor in 1994 as Norway deregulated its telecom sector, and listed on the Oslo stock exchange in 2000 with the Norwegian state retaining a majority stake. It provides mobile and fixed telecommunications services across the Nordic region and has substantial mobile operations in Asian markets including Thailand, Malaysia, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
