Wizz Air

Wizz Air is a Hungarian-founded low-cost carrier with its main operational base in Budapest, established in the early 2000s to serve the growing demand for low-fare air travel between Central and Eastern Europe and Western Europe following the 2004 European Union enlargement. Wizz Air built its network around connecting formerly Eastern Bloc countries such as Poland, Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria to Western European cities with large diaspora populations, and it grew into one of Europe's largest low-cost carriers by fleet size, operating an all-Airbus narrowbody fleet. The airline later expanded bases into Western Europe, the Balkans, the United Kingdom and the Middle East through its Wizz Air Abu Dhabi joint venture, extending its low-cost model well beyond its original Central European core.
