WestRock Company was an American packaging and paper manufacturer headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, one of the largest producers of corrugated packaging and paperboard in the world. It was formed in 2015 through the merger of MeadWestvaco and RockTenn, two large American paper and packaging companies each with corporate histories reaching back more than a century, MeadWestvaco tracing to paper mills founded in the nineteenth century and RockTenn to a Tennessee paper recycling business founded in 1936. WestRock manufactured corrugated boxes, folding cartons and specialty packaging used across consumer goods, food and beverage and e-commerce shipping. In 2024 the company combined with the Irish packaging group Smurfit Kappa to form Smurfit WestRock, a transaction that ended WestRock's independent corporate existence.
