WeeWorld was a Scottish social networking and virtual world company founded on March 20, 2000 in Glasgow by Mike Kinsella and John McGuire, with offices in Glasgow, London and Boston. Its service centered on customizable digital avatars called WeeMees, which users personalized with clothing and accessories and exported to social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter, aimed at teens and preteens as a massively multiplayer online game with chat, games and forums. At its peak the company had generated an estimated 180 million WeeMees worldwide, before entering liquidation in 2014 and ceasing operations in 2017 under new owner Opinurate.
