Vanden Plas is the coachbuilding business that began as a Belgian carriage maker and became a British firm building bodies for makers such as Bentley, Daimler, Lagonda and Rolls-Royce. It became a subsidiary of the Austin Motor Company in 1946 and made the body of the Austin A120 Princess limousine on an Austin chassis at its Kingsbury works in north London, later gaining its own standing as a manufacturer inside the British Motor Corporation. Its Kingsbury Lane factory closed in November 1979.
