Universal Newsreel was a series of seven to ten minute newsreels released twice a week between 1929 and 1967 by Universal Studios, originated and produced by Universal publicity official Sam B. Jacobson. Nearly all were filmed in black and white, and many were narrated by Ed Herlihy; the series succeeded International Newsreel, which Universal had released from 1919 to 1929.
