UnitedHealth Group Incorporated is an American health insurance and health services company founded in 1977 in Minnetonka, Minnesota. It grew into the largest health insurance company in the United States by revenue, offering coverage through its UnitedHealthcare arm, and also built Optum, a health services, pharmacy-benefit and data-analytics business that has come to account for a large and growing share of the company's overall revenue and profit alongside its insurance operations.
