Tom Walkinshaw Racing

Consumer Discretionary

Tom Walkinshaw Racing, or TWR, was a motor racing team and engineering firm founded in 1976 in Kidlington, near Oxford, England, by touring car racer Tom Walkinshaw. It began with privateer work, then ran works touring cars for manufacturers including Mazda and Rover, but became most closely associated with Jaguar from 1982, when it entered the Jaguar XJS in the European Touring Car Championship. By 1988 TWR Jaguar had won Le Mans with the V12 XJR-9, followed by another win in 1990, and TWR and Jaguar formed JaguarSport to build tuned road cars, including the XJ220 and XJR-15, at a new facility at Bloxham. TWR also won Le Mans in 1996 and 1997 with the Porsche powered WSC-95, but the costs of buying the Arrows Formula 1 team in 1996 led to its demise in 2002.
