The Thomas B. Jeffery Company was an American automobile manufacturer based in Kenosha, Wisconsin, which operated from 1902 until 1916. It built motorcars under two brand names, Rambler and Jeffery. The firm grew out of the Gormully and Jeffery Manufacturing Company, a bicycle maker, and its founder Thomas B. Jeffery, an inventor and industrialist who built his first prototype motorcar in 1897 and then sold his stake in the bicycle business to help finance the new venture. The company matters in business history because it was the firm that formed Nash Motors in 1917, and so it is one of the automakers whose lineage runs through to American Motors Corporation, later part of Chrysler and subsequently Stellantis.
