The Canadian Press is a Canadian news agency headquartered in Toronto, established in 1917 by an act of Parliament to help the country's newspapers share and distribute news nationally. Converted from a member-owned cooperative into a for-profit company in 2010, it is now owned jointly by Torstar, The Globe and Mail and Square Victoria Communications Group, and it supplies text, photo, audio and video news content to Canadian print, broadcast and online media.
