Thales Alenia Space is a European spaceflight services joint venture between the French technology corporation Thales Group, which holds 67 percent, and the Italian defense conglomerate Leonardo, which holds 33 percent, and it is headquartered in Cannes, France. It provides space-based systems, including satellites and ground segments, used for telecommunications, navigation, Earth observation, space exploration and science. The company is a major industrial participant in the International Space Station, having produced pressurized modules including the Cupola, the Harmony and Tranquility nodes and the Columbus laboratory, and it is responsible in particular for the ground segment of the Galileo navigation system.
