Communication Services

Square Enix is a Japanese multinational holding company, video game publisher and entertainment conglomerate, best known for the role-playing game franchises Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and Kingdom Hearts. Beyond developing and publishing games it runs arcade facilities, sells merchandise and publishes manga under its Gangan Comics brand. The company traces its current form to April 2003, when Square merged into Enix, the surviving firm, in a share exchange; most of the combined staff came from Square, and the former heads of the two firms took the president, vice president and chairman posts. In October 2008 the group split its corporate functions from its game operations, becoming a holding company with a domestic game subsidiary beneath it. It later bought the arcade operator Taito in 2005 and the British group Eidos in 2009. The group is headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo, with branches in Los Angeles, Beijing, Paris, Hamburg and London.
