SLB, known for most of its history as Schlumberger Limited, is a multinational oilfield services company founded in 1926 in France by brothers Conrad and Marcel Schlumberger, who had developed electrical methods for surveying underground rock formations. It grew into one of the world's largest providers of technology and services to the oil and gas exploration and production industry, with major administrative centers in Houston, London, The Hague and Paris, and adopted the shortened name SLB in 2022 as part of a broader push into lower-carbon energy technology.
