Wolseley Motors Limited was a British motor vehicle manufacturer founded in early 1901 by Vickers Armaments in conjunction with Herbert Austin. It first made a full range of cars, topped by large luxury models, and dominated the British market in the Edwardian era. After the First World War it expanded rapidly, building 12,000 cars in 1921 and remaining the biggest motor manufacturer in Britain. William Morris acquired it from Vickers Limited in 1927, and after the Second World War its products were badge-engineered Morris cars within BMC, BMH and British Leyland, where the name lapsed in 1975.
