Schwarz Gruppe is a German multinational retail conglomerate headquartered in Neckarsulm, founded by Josef Schwarz in 1930 and now owned by his son Dieter Schwarz. It operates stores under the Lidl and Kaufland brands, running about fourteen thousand five hundred stores in thirty three countries with some six hundred four thousand employees, and it also manufactures private label food and drink through its Schwarz Produktion division. Beyond retail the group runs PreZero, a waste management and recycling business with more than four hundred locations, and Schwarz Digits, a cloud computing and cybersecurity arm. With revenue of about one hundred eighty five point six billion euros in fiscal year 2025 it is the largest retailer in Europe and the fourth largest retailer in the world by revenue.
