The Saudi Press Agency is the state news agency of Saudi Arabia, established in 1971 under King Faisal bin Abdulaziz as the first national news agency in Saudi Arabia and the first in the Arabian Gulf region, headquartered in Riyadh. It was created to serve as a central body collecting and distributing local and international news, and it publishes in six languages: Arabic, English, French, Chinese, Russian and Persian. Originally under the Ministry of Media, it became an independent corporation in May 2012.
