Queensland Rail

Queensland Rail is a government-owned rail operator providing suburban, interurban and long-distance passenger services across the Australian state of Queensland, headquartered in Brisbane. The organization traces its establishment to July 31, 1865, and today runs suburban and interurban trains across South East Queensland alongside long-distance passenger routes connecting Brisbane to regional Queensland, over a network of about 6,600 kilometers of track. The company employed more than 7,500 people as of 2022 and reported revenue of about 2.3 billion Australian dollars in the 2021-22 financial year. Queensland Rail is a passenger-focused operator, distinct from the freight-focused Aurizon into which the state's rail freight business was earlier separated.
