PPG Industries, Inc. is an American manufacturer of paints, coatings and specialty materials headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, founded in 1883 in Creighton, Pennsylvania as the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company by John Baptiste Ford and John Pitcairn. It expanded from flat glass into a broad supplier of paints and protective and decorative coatings for the automotive, aerospace, industrial and architectural markets, and is one of the largest coatings companies in the world.
