Phoenix Venture Holdings

Consumer Discretionary

Phoenix Venture Holdings, often called the Phoenix Consortium, was the holding company set up by four British businessmen to buy the car side of the Rover Group from BMW in May 2000. BMW paid a large sum alongside the sale, and the consortium paid a nominal price for the Rover business, which it relaunched as MG Rover. The group and its related companies went into administration in April 2005, after which the Rover name stayed with BMW and then moved on to Ford and finally to Tata Motors, while the MG business passed to Nanjing Automobile of China.
