Peugeot is a French automobile brand owned by Stellantis. It began as a family business founded in 1810, and Automobiles Peugeot was created in 1896, which the source describes as making it the oldest car company in the world. Armand Peugeot built the company's first vehicle, a steam-powered tricycle, and the Peugeot family and company come originally from Sochaux, where Peugeot still operates a large manufacturing facility and the Peugeot Museum. The company merged with Citroen in 1976 to form the PSA Group. The brand has won six European Car of the Year awards and has a long record in motorsport, including the Indianapolis 500 in 1913, 1916 and 1919.
