Paramount Pictures is an American film studio headquartered in Hollywood, California, tracing to Adolph Zukor's Famous Players Film Company, founded in 1912, which merged in 1916 with Jesse Lasky's Feature Play Company and the distributor Paramount Pictures Corporation to form the company that eventually took the Paramount name outright. It became one of the "Big Five" major studios of Hollywood's golden age and is the oldest major Hollywood film studio still headquartered in Hollywood itself. Its library and ongoing productions include the Star Trek, Mission: Impossible and Transformers franchises, and it operates today as the flagship studio of Paramount Skydance, formed by Skydance Media's 2025 acquisition of the former Paramount Global.
