Moody's Corporation is an American financial services company headquartered in New York City, founded by John Moody, who began publishing manuals of statistics on railroad securities in 1900 and introduced bond credit ratings in 1909. Its Moody's Investors Service subsidiary is one of the "big three" credit rating agencies alongside S&P Global Ratings and Fitch, and the company also operates Moody's Analytics, providing financial risk data and analysis.
