Magyar Tavirati Iroda (MTI) is one of the oldest news agencies in the world, founded on March 1, 1881 and headquartered in Budapest, where it long served as Hungary's national wire service collecting and distributing domestic and international news. The organization became defunct as an independent entity on June 30, 2015, when it merged with three other Hungarian public media organizations into Duna Media, which serves as its legal successor under Hungary's Independent Public Media Council governance structure.
