Kuwait Petroleum Corporation is Kuwait's state-owned national oil company, headquartered in Kuwait City, established in 1980 as a holding company to bring the country's oil industry under unified state ownership and control. It oversees a group of subsidiaries covering the full oil value chain, including Kuwait Oil Company for domestic upstream exploration and production, Kuwait National Petroleum Company for refining, and Kuwait Petroleum International, which markets fuel internationally under the Q8 brand across Europe. Kuwait holds among the largest proven oil reserves of any country in the world, and Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and its subsidiaries manage essentially all of the country's oil production as a member of OPEC.
