Keretapi Tanah Melayu, commonly known as KTM, is the main railway operator in Peninsular Malaysia, wholly owned by the Malaysian government. Its rail system traces to the British colonial era in 1885 and the company itself was corporatised in 1992. Headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, KTM operates a 1,000 millimeter gauge network spanning 3,264 kilometers, running four core services: KTM Intercity, the KTM ETS electric train service, KTM Komuter commuter rail and KTM Kargo freight.
