Jersey Glass Company

Jersey Glass Company was a glassware manufacturer founded by George Dummer on Washington Street between Essex Street and the Morris Canal in Paulus Hook, New Jersey, later part of Jersey City; his brother Phineas Dummer joined the business after moving to Jersey City in 1824. The company made glassware for home, decorative and commercial use, and by the 1840s, operating as P.C. Dummer and Company, it sold glass produced with Phineas Dummer patented pressed-glass process known as Dummer scallop or coverplate. It went out of business after the economic downturn that followed the American Civil War.
