Japan Airlines

Japan Airlines, often abbreviated JAL, is a flag carrier of Japan headquartered in Tokyo, founded in 1951 as the country's first post-war airline and initially operated under contract by Northwest Airlines before flying under its own certification from 1953. The airline filed for a widely reported bankruptcy restructuring in 2010, from which it emerged in 2012 under new leadership with a significantly reduced route network and cost base. Japan Airlines joined the Oneworld alliance in 2007 and operates its main hubs at Tokyo's Haneda and Narita airports, remaining Japan's second-largest carrier behind rival All Nippon Airways.
