Inter Press Service is a not-for-profit international news cooperative headquartered in Rome, founded in 1964 and formally established in 1965, owned by no single country or publisher. It reports on social, political, civil and economic issues affecting the Global South and civil society, and a 1991 United Nations study found it accounted for the third-highest share of news agency citations among sampled publications, with particular strength in Latin America.
