Imperial Oil Limited

Imperial Oil Limited is a Canadian integrated oil company headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, one of Canada's oldest and largest oil companies. It was founded in 1880 in London, Ontario, by a group of Canadian refiners who pooled resources to compete with growing American oil interests, and it became closely linked with the Standard Oil group not long after. ExxonMobil has held a majority ownership stake in Imperial Oil for decades, and the company operates major Alberta oil sands projects, including Kearl and Cold Lake, alongside conventional exploration and production and a network of refineries and Esso-branded fuel retail across Canada.
