Ilyushin is a Russian aircraft manufacturer and design bureau, formally the public joint stock company Ilyushin Aviation Complex, founded in 1933 by the aircraft designer Sergey Vladimirovich Ilyushin and headquartered in the Aeroport District of Moscow. Its operations began on 13 January 1933 under an order of the Soviet People's Commissar of the Heavy Industry, and its aircraft carry the Soviet and Russian designation prefix Il-. The company received the Order of Lenin in 1942 and further Soviet state decorations in 1944, 1969 and 1983. In 2006 the Russian government merged it with Mikoyan, Irkut, Sukhoi, Tupolev and Yakovlev into the United Aircraft Corporation, and later reports described a planned combination with Myasishchev inside the corporation's transport aircraft unit. Its subsidiaries include a marketing and customer service arm created in 1992 and a leasing and finance company.
