Humana Inc. is an American health insurance company headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, founded in 1961 by David A. Jones Sr. and Wendell Cherry, initially as a nursing home operator before moving into hospitals and then health insurance. It became one of the largest providers of Medicare Advantage health plans in the United States, alongside other health insurance and healthcare services businesses.
