GMSA, short for General Motors South Africa, was the South African arm of General Motors, based in Gqeberha, once called Port Elizabeth. It began in 1913 by distributing Chevrolet cars, and from 1926 it assembled and sold vehicles of all the General Motors brands, from kits shipped in. In 1986 it was sold and renamed Delta Motor Corporation when General Motors left apartheid South Africa, GM bought back a stake in 1997 and full ownership in 2004, and it announced its withdrawal from the market in May 2017.
