BBC News Punjabi is a Punjabi language news service of the BBC World Service, delivering content through websites and social media rather than broadcast. It launched on 2 October 2017 as part of the BBC largest expansion of language services in decades, following a 2016 increase in government funding, and it targets an audience the BBC estimates at around 100 million Punjabi speakers worldwide, concentrated in India and Pakistan with sizeable diaspora communities in Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia.
